ST. CHARLES — St. Charles East girls soccer is headed to the IHSA Class 3A state semifinals after a 2-1 victory over Naperville Central in Saturday's supersectional at Geneva's Burgess Field, capping a 22-2-1 season that has rewritten the program's record book.
Junior midfielder Ava Brennan scored both goals for the Saints, including the game-winner in the 73rd minute off a corner kick service from senior captain Lily Andersen. Brennan now has 28 goals on the season, breaking the single-season program record of 25 set in 2017. Goalkeeper Sofia Ruiz made six saves to preserve the lead after Naperville Central equalized early in the second half.
