St. Charles East Edges Geneva 2-1 in Sectional Final, Punches Ticket to Super

ST. CHARLES — Ava Brennan took one touch to settle the ball at the top of the box, then drove a low shot past Geneva goalkeeper Mia Solberg in the second minute of stoppage time Friday night, giving St. Charles East a 2-1 victory in the Class 3A Sectional championship at Saints Stadium.

The win sends the Saints (19-3-2) to the super-sectional on Tuesday, where they will face the winner of Saturday's Naperville North-Metea Valley sectional final. It is the program's first trip to the super-sectional since 2019 and caps a postseason run in which St. Charles East has outscored opponents 11-2 across four matches.
