Geneva Wrestling Summer Camp Draws Record 140 Athletes Ahead of 2026-27 Season

GENEVA — More than 140 wrestlers from grades seven through twelve filled the Geneva High School auxiliary gym last week for the program's annual summer technique camp, a record turnout that has coaches projecting a deep and competitive roster when the 2026-27 season opens in November.
Head coach Brian Alderman, entering his eighth year leading the Vikings, said the surge in numbers reflects both a cultural shift within the program and the success of a feeder pipeline he has spent years building with Geneva's middle school coaches. "We had 88 kids two summers ago. Now we're turning away walk-ins because we don't have enough mat space," Alderman said. "That's a good problem to have."
