Batavia Girls Soccer Clinches DuPage Valley Conference Title With 2-1 Win

BATAVIA — Senior midfielder Ava Kowalski scored the go-ahead goal in the 67th minute Friday night as the Batavia Bulldogs defeated crosstown rival Geneva 2-1 at Bulldog Stadium, clinching an outright DuPage Valley Conference championship with a 9-0-1 league record.

Kowalski, a Northern Illinois University commit, collected a through ball from junior forward Mia Trevino and slotted it past Geneva keeper Riley Sandberg to break a 1-1 deadlock that had held since halftime. The win extends Batavia's unbeaten streak to 14 matches and improves its overall record to 17-2-1 heading into the IHSA Class 3A postseason.
