The Batavia Farmer's Market opens for its 28th season on Saturday, May 10, with a record 60 vendors — up from 47 last year — and several new features organizers say reflect growing demand.
New this year: a prepared-food tent with eight rotating food vendors, a kids' activity area sponsored by the Batavia Park District, and extended hours on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
"We had a waiting list of vendors for the first time in our history," said Market Director Angela Smits. "The community's appetite for local food has never been stronger."
The market runs Saturdays through October 25 in the city's downtown district on Wilson Street. A Wednesday evening market launches June 4 and runs through August.
