Gov. JB Pritzker's office announced Friday that Rep. Colleen Conway, who represented State House District 49 since 2018, has resigned to become the state's Deputy Director of Economic Development, triggering a special election process for her Kane County seat.
Under state law, both parties' precinct committeemen in the district will convene separately to nominate candidates to fill the vacancy. The nominees will then face each other in a special general election expected to be scheduled for late summer or early fall.
