Three Contested School Board Races Will Shape District Futures This Spring

Three of the Fox Valley's largest school districts will hold contested board elections this spring, with races in Batavia Unit District 101, St. Charles Community Unit 303, and Elgin Area School District U-46 drawing unusual levels of organized voter engagement on both sides.

In District 101, two incumbent board members face challengers backed by a newly formed parents' group calling for greater transparency in curriculum decisions. The incumbents have dismissed the challenge as an import of national culture-war politics into a local race.
