Art on the Fox Returns Memorial Day Weekend with 80 Exhibitors Along the River
Aurora's Art on the Fox festival returns this Memorial Day weekend for its 29th year, spreading 80 juried exhibitors across the city's East Bank riverfront from Saturday through Monday. The free outdoor festival runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, rain or shine.
This year's juried selection includes painters, printmakers, sculptors, jewelers, ceramic artists, and glass workers from 14 states. About a third of the exhibitors are Illinois-based, including several from the Fox Valley. Featured artist Laura Shen of Elgin will be presenting a series of large-format mixed-media works that incorporate photography, resin, and reclaimed materials from demolished Kane County buildings.
In addition to the gallery-style artist booths, the festival includes a children's activity tent with hands-on art projects, live music Saturday and Sunday afternoons on the Main Stage, and a new food court area on Water Street with a dozen local and regional vendors. The Aurora Art League will host a sidewalk chalk invitational for youth artists on the Stolp Island bridge walk Saturday morning.
Parking is available in the downtown Aurora parking decks on Downer Place and River Street, both within a five-minute walk of the festival grounds. A free shuttle will run between the Route 59 Metra station and the riverfront every 30 minutes Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Full exhibitor list and site map at artonthefox.org.
